What if I find a moth in my oats?Please contact us and let us know how you stored you oats and where they were purchased.
Oats are natural product. Moths can form a webbing insider the container and the larva from this moth can live in any cereal based food. Moths are a problem in areas of New Zealand where humidity is high. Moths can spread quickly even eating through paper and cardboard packaging.
How to prevent pantry moth:
- Clean pantry using a light solution of detergent or vinegar to wipe down shelves.
- Store any new purchased grain product in the freezer.
- Store any grain based product in a sealed glass container.
- Use products before the use by date stamped on the pack.
